City-plan for Longyearbyen will be decided on by the end of 2008.

The exisiting city-plan is from 1998, and there is a need to update and point out the options and directions for further development. The most urgent need is more housing, and there is a debate on how many inhabitants Longyearbyen can and should host.

The plan proposal was put out on a public hearing july and august 2008, and will be the subject of political desicion by the end of 2008.
